Years ago I had a problem with an ide drive. It had plenty of space
left but ran out of inodes. This was a local news server with many
smaller text files.

Is this still an issue with larger modern hard drives?

Hi,

You are able to set the number of inodes when creating your partition.
Check out man mkfs.ext3 or your fs, and check for -N option

I had the same issues with a backup computer, so your not alone ;)
