It looks like you need the restricted driver for your graphics card.
Go to System > Administration > Software Sources and check if Proprietary
drivers for devices (restricted) is activated. If not, activate and
reload your source lists (f.i with "sudo apt-get update"). After that go
to System > Administration > Hardware drivers and activate the
recommended drivers. After that you will have to log out and log in again
or maybe even reboot. If after this Google Earth still reports problems
come back for more help and tell us what graphics card you have, but in
most cases this should be the solution.
