Thanks for the link. 

This is really a shame. I can't imagine a first time Linux user stuck
with the abysmal performance of these drivers. I'm sure it is turning
some people off to Linux. Its certainly got me thinking to try another
distro that is usable on my very simple hardware (been on Ubuntu since
7.04, and Linux since Red Hat 4).
