Help! Update evolution to latest version on ubuntu 8.10.

Well, it's quite a long time for me. Cause I need mail app to send mail
though proxy, and proxy issue has been fixed on evolution 2.26(I have
been waiting for almost 1 month).

Or maybe I have to check other mail client which can forward mail with
proxy settings. 

Any recommendation of excellent mail client is mostly appreciated here.
Needs:
a) Can send mail though proxy
b) Can output mails to a common file format, maybe something like .pst,
which can be imported to other mail client (evolution).
