If you still have Hardy installed, check its smb.conf to the one in Intrepid or the version you are now using. You could probably copy and paste the smb.conf from Hardy to Intrepid and it may work but maybe not. It's a little tedious but compare all the entries in smb.conf and edit the ones in Intrepid that are different from Hardy.
See my other post to this thread. You don't say how expert you are with samba, gave no details on your issue and just asked for guides which you didn't find helpful. If those guides didn't inspire you to make some changes in your smb.conf and run testparm to showup any errors in smb.conf then I suspect you just skimmed over them not really trying to find a solution. man smb.conf may be of help but you will have to read it in detail.
