giving groupe rw permission to thunderbird files

You might try setting the umask from the default 022 to 002 and see if
TBird honors the umask.  TBird might override the umask policy. For X
logins, I believe you can put this in the $HOME/.xsession session
startup file. e.g.

umask 002
