Hi

What kind of motherboard do you have?
Did you try and use another USB port?

There have been some motherboards with some USB 1.1 ports for long
after the introduction of USB 2.0. This was because some USB 1.1
devices would not work with USB 2.0 ports apparently, and you may have
picked an 1.1 port. This only allows for a far slower connection.

If that doesn't work, could you please start capturing with mencoder
and post the output here? To do this you must start mencoder,
preferably with the addition of -v:
If you'd usually use:
      mencoder video://1 /path/to/target
you'd have to use now
      mencoder -v video://1 /path/to/target
This will help the wizards detect the source

Greetings
Neil
