Typically, mount takes the form of mount [device] [mount point]. So in
the case of /data1 on a device such as /dev/sda1, you would have
mount /dev/sda1 /data1. If you want to make that drive a directory for
photos, change the mount point such that it become
mount /dev/sda1 /my_photos.

If you're talking about moving your /home/peter directory, or even the
/home mount point to a different disk, I think there's a bit more
involved, but that question has been asked here a number of times, so
a search through the ubuntu archive should yield high results.
