I agree. It should be off list. Actually it should never have been on
list. I've spent most of my life helping people with computers. I've
dealt with young and old, doctors, lawyers, scientists. I've dealt with
children and elderly.

I've tried to uphold a standard of communication at the level at which I
think the audience is capable of understanding. And, I think I do a
pretty good job most of the time.

With this thread, the audience (the ones helping and the OP) all
understood the meaning of mounting a drive. We ALL say it. Everyone in
this business says it. It's easier than saying 'partition' and gets the
point across 99% of the time when most drives aren't partitioned more
than once. No one who was part of the thread misunderstood that concept.

Had that been a problem, we'd have explained it. AFAIK, no explanation
of what we meant was necessary. Therefore, Karl's email was
superfluous. The audience understood and his clarification was not
necessary to those involved.

I suppose my mistake was altering my tone to show my irritation at his
fatuous post, not the post itself. I am trying to get him, in
particular to learn what to post and what not to post.

As I said, his emails are all filtered on my system now, so I'll be
happily ignorant of posts like this from now on. Unfortunately, that
also means, if he has a real problem that I can show him how to fix,
he'll be out of luck. I would hope that someone else could help.

All I've asked for is manners, and posting relevant material. Is that
too hard to ask? I mean, if it is, I can leave the list now and save my
breath.
