It does work "like" but I was hoping for some difference that would shed
light :-)

I think only one developer in the third sub-basement actually knows that...

All of hal's "policies" should be in PolicyKit - use:
# locate "freedesktop.hal"
Maybe diff those with the system that works properly.

More _intelligent_ logging. I got in a slugfest with the devs early in the
development of NetworkManager about the amount of drivel it spews. They
insisted it was all necessary, and you'll notice it's all still there, but
there's nothing that is meaningful or useful to a normal user. I _still_
can't ever see a single thing that indicates why I sometimes lose my wifi
connection.
