This seems to work just like the mount command (w/o the need for sudo,
as you say).
The devices shows up on my desktop (with both pmount and mount) yet, I
cannot unmount it with the right-click menu -- it says the device is
"not in /media/.hal-mtab so it is not mounted by HAL".
I guess this is why I asked about how the parts work together. I
assume HAL is looking up some options in some config file and using
an invalid mount option. Unfortunately, the error message is too
vague to give me hints where this is happening.
Again, odd that this only happens on one of my Hardy machines.
More logging instead of less is always the better plan. ;)
