Thanks Tony. In this particular case shredding is better than encryption
as the potential conflagration (which I alluded to above) could result
in civil,
rather than criminal proceedings.In such a case, the user would be served
with a civil subpoena to produce the decryption key, and refusal to
self-incriminate would not apply. (even if it might (or might not!) in
a criminal case).
