10 mins seems to be very slow for a 800MHz machine - my 180 MHz machine 
used to be that slow. But I have no idea why it takes so long. In your 
dmesg.log I can't see anything suspicious but maybe there is something 
in "/var/log/Xorg.0.log".

That's a time stamp with the time from starting the kernel in seconds.

Ubuntu uses upstart as a replacement for sysvinit so we don't have an 
inittab any longer. If you don't want the GUI, you could remove the entry 
in "/etc/X11/default-display-manager". Possibly there are better ways to 
get the CLI login but this should work.
