It's part of the modular design. By default, only the bare essentials'
installed. It's a pain in the ass, I know, especially if you're
distributing a PHP script and then finding out from your users that
class DB's missing.

But then again, it keeps my server and workstation leaner since I only
have packages that I really need and depend on.
