Wireless device (Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG) not working on Ubuntu LTS 8.04

Yeah, this device is pants. I bought a Dellbuntu M1330 with this card. It
can find all wireless networks in a 1000 mile radius, but I have to connect
each time manually to the one in my house. I know I could blacklist it blah
blah, but I shouldn't have to.
Tried intrepid live CD, same issue.
