8.10 beta dies when I run Firefox, Xorg problem

I have just installed Ubuntu 8.10 beta on a newly put together
computer, it went amazingly smoothly and easily.

However when I run Firefox the video drivers appear to go bang, it
just dies completely giving me a blank screen.  Looking at the Xorg
error file it's obviously lost the plot completely.

The motherboard is an Intel one with a G45 video chip set.

Any ideas what to do, get latest versions?
