Hi guys ... I have had a long standing problem with 8.04 and my new
laptop.
I was able to narrown it down to Wireless network usage.
1. What do you see on your screen:
It simply freezes dead.
2. What does your keyboard do?
Nothing ... nothing responds to any in or outputs, even my sound goes
into a loop of the the noise it made. Seems to reply the soundbuffer
over and over.
3. What does your mouse do?
See above.
4. How do you fix the hang up?
Reboot... with the power button nothing else works.
I have a RaLink RT2561/RT61 rev B 802.11g according to lspci.
Lots of volkes have had trouble with this card and the new drivers. Slow
speeds and low signal. Changeing to other drivers managed to fix the
problem for me... but I eventually went back to just not using wireless
with the broken drivers. I dont think I ever saw anybody else with the
same problem.
cheers, and woohoo for my first post to the mailing list.
