intrepid: "failed to initialize hal"

I'm using Compaq Presario V3500 laptop and was upgrade to Intrepid using Update Manager path. HAL works fine here.

Maybe you should elaborate how did you made your upgrade (eg. update manager or clean install with CD). But tell you the truth, I'm not exactly sure how to fix HAL errors better than reinstalling.
