New system for ubuntu - recommended display hardware?

I've been using a kvm with a single 21" Dell flat screen monitor, keyboard
and mouse for over a year on three different Ubuntu systems without any
problems.
Two of those systems are running Nvidia and one is running an ATI card. I'm
in transit at the moment and don't have the details handy, but if you would
like them, reply here and I'll get them for you.
