Java won't work on Firefox

Do remember that Java and javascript are two different things!  Each has its 
own checkbox in FirFox.  Did you install from Synaptic Package Manager or 
some other way?  Using that manager, search sun-java and see what you have 
installed.  Sun-Java6-jre should include and install all the plugins needed 
for Firefox 3 anyway.
