On my vista, the first partition is the recovery partition used to restore the original OS if something goes amiss. The second partition , sda2 marked bootable, is the one containing the running OS and is the largest sized partition of the two.

    That is odd. On my laptop it's Vista running on sda1 and the saftey 
is on sda2.
