I think it's your hardware. I just did the following on 8.10 (using a
Thinkpad A21M):

1. Log into a terminal <ctrl><alt><f4>
2. Press the built in SAK <alt><PrtSc/SysRq><k>

Result: [ 2518.747127] SysRq : SAK

I did the above using both Root and User.

Now... I did the same <alt><PrtSc/SysRq><k> from a Gnome desktop & got
multiple instances of the Print Screen - reminded me of The Runs Matrix
On Windows (replicating) video.
