Open Firefox. Firefox is a webbrowser. Now type, http://www.google.com in
the address bar on Firefox. This should bring up the Google website if DNS is
working ok. If Firefox complains, try entering http://72.14.207.99 in the
address bar, which will bypass DNS, and directly access the address.

The ping command is used to find out if a website or an IP address exists.
Open Gnomes terminal, and type the following as below.
ping 72.14.207.99
You should see some output on Gnomes terminal if you have an Internet
connection.
Hit the Ctrl + the C key to stop the ping
Now lets try the same thing using Googles web address.
Type as below.
ping www.google.com
Do you get any output on the Gnome terminal?
If not you have a problem with DNS
Do you have anything in /etc/resolv.conf?

I had no problem with http://www.clearstation.com, but if you have a DNS
problem, that's no surprise

Just some observations, and please post back with the results from the
suggestions above.
Nigel.
