Can't get my wireless card to work

Linux newbie again. I bought a Dynex wireless G desktop card so I wouldn't
have to run a giant cable through my house. I got it, installed it and
went through the step by step methods on what card I have and how to
configure it for Ubuntu. However, ubuntu recognizes I have it but I can't
seem to detect anything, not even from my router 3 feet away [from where I
have my desktop at] and I know it works. In the terminal I saw my network
options and it said my wireless card was disabled. That's all I got.

I've tried going under system>administration>network and manually putting
in the network info but it still can't find anything.

Could someone help me walkthrough it again.
