Reboot hanging happens to me too - in my case its tied to suspend/resume 
in the following way:

- if have *not* performed a suspend/resume since the last reboot - 
reboots fine
- if have performed a suspend/resume since the last reboot - reboot hangs

ISTC that you are using a laptop too - want to check if you can reboot 
if you have not suspended?

BTW I had experienced this initially with Hardy as well - eventually it 
was sorted in one of the updates, I'm betting on this happening with 
Intrepid too.
