Yes, it worked on a fresh install of Hardy on a new partition with Vista, Gutsy on separate partitions.
Kde4 was an upgrade from the mirrows; Don't remember which one now but it's the one that has the kde4 on it. Aptitude show says Section: universe/kde.

I don't think so. It's the keyboard that came with the Gateway 5656GT AMD X2-64 and the Function keys have always worked.
You may not have seen my post that the problem is solved now by simply removing Compiz from Hardy. That's all it took.
