Thier workaround doesnt work for me as when i click check it also goes into an endless loop. I tried to it via command line and command line updating works but not as nice as the gui. I am running a new ibm thinkpad with 2 gigs of ram so ram is not an issue. any other ideas? THis is nt the first time it has happened before. i have int he past just reinstalled linux but this time i am serious about running it and i dont want to reinstall my os all the time. hmm still lost. What should i do next to get this bug looked at by the ubuntu team? or gnome? or debian? whoever is th ebest suited for this question?

thanks

JIm
