Hello!
I've suffered from this, too. The thing is that, from Gnome, when you
install KDE, shutdown and reboot commands are no longer owned by user
(this is what I found out when I had this problem, too). I don't
remember exactly what I did, but I am very sure it had to do with the
install of KDE over Gnome. The thing I did: uninstall KDE, save home and
start off again with a new version, but ... this is no way to deal with
problems :P.
