Been doing that ever since the SCO Group started their crazy
machinations; Groklaw's indeed a great resource.
Bob's right. Microsoft is hoping to get as much Free Software as
possible dependent on this .NET Mono. Then, once enough FOSS is
dependent on it (gee thanks Miguel), Microsoft goes a-suing for, at a
minimum, "patent infringement." Maybe even copyright infringement too,
if actual MS code "somehow" makes its way into Mono.
Mono, like Sliver-blight (spelling intentional), is a trap. I simply
refuse to use software that has actual dependencies on Mono, just like I
refuse to use Microsoft Windows or MS Office.
You're free to forego your freedom if you want. You're also free to let
yourself get run over by a car or jump off the Golden Gate Bridge, if
that's what does it for you.
