Thank you so much. Yes, this solved the problem in a way I did not
expect to be solved.
Why am I saying this ?
Because I did not know for the existence of vine-server and what it can do.
I've learned that I can share my main desktop ( aka $DISPLAY:0) with
others in very
convenient and simple way. So, for now I can live with such a solution.
Side note: CPU usage goes to 95% with the running vine-server. Is this
OK ? *(Ubuntu 7.10)

BUT

my original problem is still there.
If I start standard vnceserver on the laptop I should be able to connect to it
from any Windows or UNIX/LINUX box by typing (or clicking on icon on
MS Windows))

vnceviewer 10.188.26.175:1

This still does not work.

I've noticed in the vnc log file the following:

06/05/08 20:47:53 Xvnc version 3.3.7 - built May 24 2007 12:47:11
<snip> <snip>
06/05/08 20:47:53 Desktop name 'X' (thinkpad-T40:1)
06/05/08 20:47:53 Protocol version supported 3.3
06/05/08 20:47:53 Listening for VNC connections on TCP port 5901

Fatal server error:
could not open default font 'fixed'

Could it be this 'Fatal server error" the main culprit ?

If it is, then, please let me know how to fix it .

TIA

Igor
