Just a quick follow up since it looks like you found your answer
already.  Technically this is called 'globbing' not actually regular
expressions.   Regular expressions as used in perl, sed/awk etc etc are
a lot more elaborate than simple shell globbing.  That might help you
search for more accurate documentation.
