Using alt in applications

Hm, on second thought that will likely not help, as it only changes
which key does what. In this case, it will be easiest to go to System >
Preferences, and choose Keyboard Shortcuts. There are not than many
shortcuts that use Alt and you can easily set up alternatives by simply
pressing the appropriate keys.
