Hi James,

If I'm getting this right, what you're facing right now with the
compose new e-mail interface in KMail looks something like this:

Notice in that screenshot the black arrow I added. It points to a
'dashed' region in your toolbar - just point to it with your mouse
cursor and then left-click it and start dragging - you'll be able to
move the whole rectangle/toolbar with the buttons in the upper part of
the window again.
