Flaky Curser Ubuntu 7.10

Hi all:

I did another Ubuntu 7.10 install on another computer a few days ago. I
had one minor problem with video monitor pixels and fixed that with xmms
x-org.  In the last 2 days, a strange effect with the mouse cursor
arrow...it will suddenly reverse color from white to black...then,
reverse its color to white for some time and then go to black again.

Has anyone else had this experience and how is it fixed so that the
cursor remains in the original white color?
