No Splash screen - Gutsy

Usplash.conf shows this:
# Usplash configuration file
 xres=1280
 yres=1280

My default screen resolution is 1024x760, and refresh rate is 60Hz. I then changed Usplash file to:
# Usplash configuration file
xres=1024
yres=768

But I still don't have any difference. I am using HP Pavilion zv5000 laptop.

Does the resolution that is set in /etc/usplash.conf correspond to your
monitor? To change it, run in a terminal window:

sudo gedit /etc/usplash.conf
