bzr repository/working copy on FAT?

Hello,

If I use bzr, can I have a copy of the repository on a FAT formatted
partition (i.e. a USB stick)?
If I can't have a repository, can I have a working copy on FAT that
would not be affected when merged back to, say, ext3?

Or to transport a working copy or repository (on a FAT formatted
partition), I would have to tar it?
