Just an update. Have installed Hardy 32 bit after
using gparted live CD to shrink my gutsy partition and
make several new 50 GiB partitions to add OSes for
testing. Gparted live CD worked good, but had to
delete tha partition used for hardy when trying to
install because of no root. Seems silly to me that you
create a partition with gparted and then have to
delete it to install hardy 32 bit from the alternate.
I´m now having no trouble switching between ttys in
Hardy but still can´t do it in gutsy even after trying
the fixes from the link NoOp gave me above. Willing
to try anything else to fix the gutsy issue. Hardy is
nice but having a little trouble typing an ¨ ´ ¨ from
the keyboard which didn´t happen in gutsy. Have to
type an ¨ or ´ two or more times for it to print.
