cannot mount ACOMDATA external USB drive

this is exactly what i did.  i did not put the drive in the computer,
partition it etc, then put it in the enclosure.  i received the
hardware, assembled the enclosure with the drive in it, plugged it in
and it worked right away.  now after partitioning etc. mounting it is flaky.
