To get all your output in one place, and away from tty1 where it gets
in the way...

1 - Add kopt=console=tty12 to grub.1st and run update-grub
2 - edit /etc/syslog.conf - change the entry already there but
commented out to also use tty12

The original poster wanted something that blows by quickly and wasn't
in the syslog or dmesg.   That's why I suggested a real tty as output
so it was easier to capture.
