This makes me wonder. I have learned the past 15 years to use either $ or 
# in front of the command to make clear if the command should be given as 
normal user or as root. This has, as far as I know, never given anyone a 
problem. On the other hand, I have also learned not to use HTML on usenet 
(not so difficult because there was no HTML when I started on usenet). 
Now, I suppose, your use of HTML gives you a problem with my $. Try 
turning of HTML and your problems may disappear.
