Ubuntu 7.10 and 8.04--not able to install

Ubuntu 7.10 was sent  by you. I got 8.04 thro' Linux magazine. I am
unable to install both.

Ub 7.10 gives a huge mass of errors.Atlast login page come but none of
the username and password is accepted.

Ub 8.04 error to CD after a few minutes. Unable to proceed.

I am not new to Ubuntu.All previous versions have worked well.
