ldap error please help

hello

once i try to install the packages

ldap-utils libpam-ldap

it just says that these are the newest version and needs no upgrade,
but i am confused because
according to the http://www.linux.com/feature/114074, it shud open up
a a page to reconfigure
the values, but it never did.

can someone tell me am i going anywhere in the right direction
