As it is becoming more common to install Ubuntu as an 'application' on a
windows system via WUBI, and to share files across NTFS etc., and to
have dual-boot & virtual systems whereby a windows system can read/write
to the linux drive/partition, it's probably a good idea to use an AV.

In addition to clamav, I've been pretty happy with AVG:
