Ah, that's the key. When I couldn't get it to work I just used the first
link's method & that worked.

Well, it's easier than telling her to:
Start|regedit.exe|HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE|SYSTEM|CurrentControlSet|VgaSave|Device0|HardwareInformation|REG_BINARY|
and then enter 'ea 20 8b 16' in the key :-)
