BBC Iplayer radio sound messed up with Firefox 3

Hi folks, when I first installed Hardy it came with Firefox 3 beta but
I soon found out that the BBC Radio Listen Again (and live radio as
well) did not work as it should. Instead of His Bobness' Theme Time
Radio Hour, I got the kind of noise one associates with a badly tuned
radio at such a volume that I feared for my speakers. I was able to
install and use Firefox 2 for this purpose so it wasn't exactly a
tragedy but now that the new Firefox 3 is out, I'd like to be able to
fix it.
I had a similar problem on an earlier installation which was due to
Firefox using a Totem plugin instead of the required Realplayer plugin
(which is installed and shows up in about:plugins). On that occasion I
removed the offending plugin. However, this time I can't see a Totem
plugin that is obviously usurping Realplayer's function. If anyone has
had this problem and managed to fix it, I'd appreciate a few pointers.
Cheers,
