OT: which to use - email client or web-based email?

Web-based email may work if you can count on large pipes or small volumes of
mail.  My access to the Outlook server at work via web mail is so pathetic
that I feel the need to go in to the office at least once a week...

Another option is to use an IMAP interface to the web server.  Then you can
have the best of both worlds.  That's available for Gmail, and iirc Yahoo,
not for Hotmail (and is available for Outlook, but my #$% client won't turn
it on!).
