For completeness's sake: linux-generic depends on both the latest
linux-restricted-modules-generic and the latest linux-image-generic,
which in turn depends on the latest real kernel package.
So having linux-generic (or the equivalent for whatever kernel type you
chose; generic is the default) make sure that all goes well with kernel
updates
