Kernel updates and the restricted modules....

This has happened twice now in the last few days... two recent kernel
updates, and both times on more than one Kubuntu 8.04 install.  The
update to the kernel is flagged, but the corresponding
linux-restricted-modules-2.6.24 are not being included.  Why is this?
Why do I constantly need to go and manually update the
linux-restricted-modules? (if I don't manually update, the nVidia
drivers break on restart... expected behavior since they are tied to
the restricted-modules).  Why is this update being skipped?  How many
other updates are skipped?
