Broken disk partition -- please help

You might take a look at ntfsprogs. e.g.
apt-get install ntfsprogs
The ntfsfix program may be what you need to get Windows to recognize the
partition. Before doing that, do an fdisk on your disk drive and see if
the partition type of sda1 is NTFS. If it is not, then it will not be
recognized as an NTFS filesystem. You can safely change the type of the
partition to NTFS.
