Virus in this file?

It is my only help on Ubuntu problems.
The answers confirmed that I did the right thing.

The possibility of a VIRUS was CLEARLY indicated in the subject.
Nobody was forced to open the attachment.

I did not open it till I got the confirmation from the list that there
was no virus.

I appreciate your comment. (you would have to do something bad
before I hit you back as you suggest). 
To me it the file looked DANGEROUS. (I was afraid to mess up my system).
I did not have the tools to do something about it.

Why don't you email it to virustotal.com they will scan it for viruses
and tell you the results. For instructions see:

I am willing to learn, even at your expense (time, effort).
That's what I did.
 (the danger was clearly spelled out).
